Bridge and Mine Tour
We’ve partnered with MnDOT, Cliffs Natural Resources and Kiewit Corporation to offer free bus tours of United Taconite’s mine and the new bridge spanning the Rouchleau pit in Virginia.
Tours will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 20, departing from the US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum/Range Recreation Civic Center parking lot in Eveleth and visit both United Taconite and cross the new bridge, as well as go underneath the bridge to a causeway built to accommodate construction.
A lunch of porketta sandwiches or polish delights, chips and a soda will be provided by Eveleth Country Foods in the RRCC for $2 per person. The US Hockey Hall of Fame Museum will offer $3 per person admission, and Bridge Daze t-shirts (sizes adult M, L and XL) will be available for purchase for $10. Those who won free t-shirts in the Community Walk registration can pick their shirts up. Orders for larger or smaller size t-shirts are being taken by Textiles Plus in Eveleth.
The tours will be offered to people five years of age and up. Participants are required to wear closed-toe, flat shoes for safety purposes at United Taconite.
There are a limited number of seats on the four school buses and two tours we’re offering. Please select one time and register yourself and friends/family members separately. If you have questions, please call 218-749-8161. You may need to leave a message but we will get back to you!
THE TOURS ARE FULL. Thank you for your interest! There will be a very limited number of walk-up seats available on Sunday at both times, but WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOU A SPOT.
